Design and developer access without a seat paywall

Sources and review date

Which should you choose?

Choose Figalt when…

Choose Figalt for standalone SVG work today and a free design-to-development workflow as it launches. Design features are included in Free; planned developer inspection and code access will also be free, without a Dev seat.

Choose Figma when…

Choose Figma when the asset belongs to a UI system: shared components, layouts, prototypes, and team handoff matter alongside the vector itself.

Free features, optional paid benefits

Import, editing, export, component libraries, design systems, collaboration, sync and storage are included in Free under our pricing policy. Teams need not buy a seat for every member. Plus is optional for ad removal, additional AI credits and human support; see Pricing for current terms.

Developer handoff — coming soon, free at launch

Inspect dimensions, spacing, colors and typography; copy CSS, SVG and component code; inspect components and variables; export assets; and provide read-only developer access and handoff. All are planned, not available as a complete handoff workflow today. At launch, these capabilities will be free, without a developer-seat charge.

Figma seats and team cost

USD per seat/month, annual billing: Professional Full $16 / Dev $12 / Collab $3; Organization $55 / $25 / $5; Enterprise $90 / $35 / $5. Viewers and commenters do not require a paid seat. Full includes Dev Mode; do not buy a second Dev seat for the same designer.

Example: 2 designers on Full + 3 developers on Dev, annual billing: Professional $68/month equivalent ($816/year); Organization $185 ($2,220/year); Enterprise $285 ($3,420/year). Figalt Free: $0 for five members under the pricing policy. Its developer handoff is coming soon, so this is a pricing-model comparison, not present-day feature parity.

What both tools can do

Both tools support real-time collaboration as well as graphic creation and export. Compare the plan requirements and the workflow around the asset.

Where Figma fits better

Figma’s strength is the surrounding product-design workflow. Its vector tools can already handle icons; you do not need Figalt just to draw vectors. Keep Figma as the source of truth for UI components and use SVG for standalone asset exchange.

Where Figalt fits better

Real-time multiplayer editing is free, without a paid collaboration seat. Keep every collaborator in the workflow without making design or developer access a subscription decision. This is our pricing advantage; Figma remains the stronger choice when you need its established handoff tools today.

What happens to your existing files?

  • Export a copy of the asset as SVG from the source tool; keep the native original. Figalt does not directly import .fig, .ai, or PDF files.
  • Figalt imports supported paths and basic shapes as editable geometry. This does not preserve source-tool components, constraints, or document semantics.
  • Text, images, gradients, CSS stylesheets, clipping, masks, and filters are not guaranteed to survive SVG import. Read the import warnings and compare the result with the original.
  • Check dimensions, fills, strokes, and curves before editing further. Export a test SVG and inspect it in your destination application.

Try the same task

Use the same simple icon in both tools. Change a curve and a fill, export SVG, and reopen the result where you will use it. For an existing asset, try a copy first and inspect import warnings.
